After years of civil war and human suffering, the parties to the conflict in the Republic of South Sudan signed the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic South Sudan (R-ARCSS). The people of South Sudan, the African Continent and the International Community welcomed this important milestone.

IGAD is dismayed at the reports of recurring violations of the Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Access. The people of South Sudan are tired of war and violence. The rule of fear must end. The Ceasefire agreement has been signed by all of the warring parties and it is the responsibility of all to respect the call of the people for peace.

The South Sudan people are eager to reconstruct their country and their livelihoods. Any violation of the agreement that affect the aspiration of the South Sudanese people is unacceptable.

We call upon all the parties to adhere to the Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Access.
